The following case-study about healing mood swings demonstrates what can be achieved by practicing the simple self-help practice higher-consciousness healing as described in Tara’s book The Five-Minute Miracle.
Tilly (54 years) had been a counselor for decades when she came to see me because she felt unfulfilled without a partner and because she suffered from severe mood swings. On most days she felt a variety of strong emotions which ranged from ecstasy to despair – though, mostly in the despair region. Tilly thought that these mood swings were to do with her female hormones. I told Tilly that hormones play an important role but that it is possible to positively influence one’s hormones as long as they are one’s own hormones and not hormones from the contraceptive pill or HRT. Tilly remained doubtful.
Tilly had been taught in her counseling training that negative emotions can only be overcome by strongly expressing them – ‘if necessary dozens of times’. I told Tilly that this forceful expression of emotions was exactly the reason why she was suffering from mood swings. Instead of learning to control her mind she hung on to every feeling and enlarged it by dwelling on it or by expressing it. Unfortunately, Tilly could not accept my ideas and argued ferociously against them because they challenged decades of her beliefs and therapeutic practice.
Without going any further into our debate I showed Tilly how to use Higher Consciousness Healing for some of her other issues. Tilly was immediately hooked on the method and used it for many of her problems. One of her long-term symptoms was waking up at night with panic attacks. These were cured within a week through using her healing-symbol and the anti-anxiety breathing. She has slept soundly ever since. Tilly also had a healing-symbol to overcome her loneliness and I taught her how to visualize her future soulmate. All this helped Tilly a great deal to come to terms with her situation as a single person. But we still hadn’t tackled her mood swings at that point.
I asked Tilly to relax and to notice the simple feeling of well-being arising from her healing-symbol. Tilly could feel that immediately. I then instructed her to focus on this well-being and to let go of all other feelings as soon as she noticed them and without giving them any further attention. Tilly could do that quite easily. I also asked her to draw a mood-chart and to measure the amount of well-being she had felt during each day. Within a few weeks Tilly’s enormous peaks and troughs of feelings had evened out to a stable sense of well-being that was completely unknown to her. To her surprise, she felt that even though she had not yet found a new partner she was ‘really happy’.
A year later I had a chance to speak to Tilly again. She reported that she felt even more happy and serene than before by maintaining her simple practice.
